Given the information on the page you just came from, you may have some questions. Perhaps you'll find answers below....

What is Toastmasters Leadership Institute? TLI is a training seminar sponsored by the Toastmasters Clubs of Barbados to give all Toastmasters, particularly our incoming officers, the opportunity to enhance their leadership and communication skills, and prepare participants to contribute to the building of successful clubs.

Is TLI only for club officers? TLI offers classes for all Toastmasters (TMs). Topics typically include preparing different kinds of speeches, evaluating speeches, table topics ideas, Mentoring, general evaluation of club meetings, listening, and many other "electives" of general interest. TLI also offers the participant an opportunity to meet other Toastmasters, making new friends, and obtaining names and phone numbers of good resources within the District.

Why should I consider attending TLI? To grow and develop your skills; to learn from experienced TMs; to network - meet and share ideas with other TMs; to share your questions and challenges with other TMs and get the benefit of their experiences; to build up a list of names and phone numbers of TMs you can call when a problem arises and you need help; and to have fun!

Who facilitates the classes? Experienced TMs who are willing to share their knowledge and experiences, to bring out the best in others.

What is the format of the classes? Lots of class interaction; hands-on exercises where applicable and practical; breakout groups and activities.

When is TLI? Will be held, a few weeks after election of officers, in May or June of each year.

What are the hours? Currently the program runs for a half day starting at 8:30 am but will eventually be a full day event.

Do I need to attend the entire time? Club officer training is usually scheduled in the morning; elective sessions will be scheduled throughout the day (morning and afternoon). Come when you can; leave when you must.

What are the costs? Currently the cost is $15. Refreshments are included in the cost.

Do I qualify for a reduced registration fee if I only come for part of the day? No. The registration fee pays for the preparatory work done for the seminar. The cost to stage the seminar remains the same whether persons attend for an hour or for the entire duration.

How can I get more information? Contact your club's VP Education or VP Public Relations.
